This family of four subspecies
features a bright lemon crest that curves forward away from the
body of the parrot. Known for their acrobatics and antics, which
sometimes include full upright crest displays while hanging
completely upside down, these parrots are charmers. While the
Greater Sulphur Crested has the reputation for being the calmest
of this group, one must take into account that the entire group is
known to resemble hyperactive children. Unfortunately there are
many breeders who are cross-breeding this group without thought,
diluting the pure genetics of each individual in the group.
These birds range from 700 to 950
grams in weight, and 40 to 55 centimetres in length commonly.
They are beautiful birds with
special needs and only those people who are willing to go that
"extra mile" for them should even consider adding one to their
family.
