great singing and talking abilities, Double Yellow Headed Amazons
are a popular companion parrot. Although known to be temperamental
birds, and more than occasional biters, these birds seem to possess
an inner calm that sometimes allows them to recover from years of
mistreatment much easier than many other parrots could. Occasionally
these beautiful parrots develop problems with screaming and biting,
but with good socialization they can be trained not to do so.
They can be
temperamental, sometimes protecting their human "mate" by attacking
others who dare near that person, but again, training the parrot
properly can help to prevent this problem. Females can be as
aggressive as males, so it is best to be sure to lay the proper
foundation with the Yellow-Headed Amazon from the start, to ensure a
healthy loving relationship in the long-run.
